This book carefully lays out in detail the requirements for leadership and ethical behaviour in the execution of successful construction projects. It explores the meaning of leadership from different viewpoints and articulates various techniques that are useful for leadership in construction project management.

As regards ethics, it distinguishes between personal and professional ethics and provides sound recommendations on how to navigate the conflicts between them. The book also walks the reader through ethical considerations from the business conduct point of view, looking at the distinct phases in a typical construction project. The authors, understanding that solutions to ethical dilemmas can be unclear at times, have also provided relatable case studies in their discussion of ethics.

Overall, the book creates a simple link between the theory and practice of project leadership. It is a one-stop shop for project managers looking to understand the leadership requirement of the role and how to navigate various ethical issues. It also has multiple recommendations for effective project management.

Industries produce significant waste. Some industrial waste does not degrade harmlessly and continues to pose a challenge in terms of its safe treatment and disposal. Many countries in Europe and North America do not allow for manufacture of products that create such by-products. However, the world needs these products (bauxite is one example) and it is left to some of the developing countries to manufacture them.

The book is a detailed treatise on understanding such industrial wastes, their impact on the environment, their contaminant transport into soil and rock and the ensuing soil and rock response. It further expands into discussion on the potential for converting such industrial waste into inert, useful products.

Most importantly, this book is about innovative technology – it is a cornucopia of inventive laboratory-grown devices and environmental set-ups that have been devised by Professor Singh and his team.

It is frugal engineering at its best. This book inspires out-of-the-box thinking and focuses on dealing with a tricky issue the world would like to bury under the deep seas.

This is a book in five parts and covers a basic understanding of traffic engineering, pavement engineering, urban transportation planning, highway survey and geometric design of highways. It takes travel demand forecasting back to basics and provides a fairly simple explanation of all the relevant aspects of how traffic links through to pavement design.

There are multiple-choice questions scattered around the chapters to enable the reader to check and confirm their understanding on each topic. It then moves on to look at practical problems and solutions when dealing with survey errors.

This book is a comprehensive, but simplified, textbook for anyone who wants to understand the basics of transport planning and to understand how this affects the final engineer’s design solution for the pavement design of the highway. It takes readers through all the necessary steps in the engineering process from traffic numbers (existing and future) through to the pavement design. It also has a final section on car park design.
