BDS members will be saddened to hear that Stuart Davies, formerly the reservoir safety manager for Welsh Water, passed away on 29 July 2011.
Lyonel Stuart Davies was born on 29 June 1942 in Haverfordwest. In his early life Stuart discovered a love of sport – swimming, water polo, cricket and rugby – and also for maths and science. Stuart studied civil engineering and became chartered in the 1960s. He worked at Trawsfynydd Power Station and on the construction of Llandegfedd Reservoir near Cardiff.
He progressed to become water resources manager for Welsh Water and reservoir safety manager for Welsh Water and latterly for United Utilities when that company provided operational services to Welsh Water.
Stuart was a supervising engineer under the Reservoirs Act 1975 right up to just before his death. He was a regular attendee at BDS events including the conferences and supervising engineer forums. Stuart retired from mainstream work 2 years ago.
Stuart was very much a family man with a particular love of and interest in rugby and travelling. He leaves a wife Geraldine, two sons, Paul and Christopher, and four grandchildren.
