The Geoffrey Binnie Lecture 2014 was delivered by Alan Cooper at the Belfast conference, and this issue contains the unabridged text of this extremely interesting topic of the heritage of dams in Northern Ireland.
In addition, we have an informative paper on the Belfast Water Commissioners and LL Macassey (1840–1908).
The majority of submissions by authors with respect to the Belfast conference have now been received, and the write-up for the conference will appear in the next issue of Dams and Reservoirs.
There has been a continued decline in the number of papers and articles for publication in Dams and Reservoirs and I would strongly urge members to consider making a submission to the journal. Please send submissions to editor@britishdams.org.
BDS Events
Details of forthcoming events are listed on the BDS website: http://www.britishdams.org/meetings.asp.
It is with great regret that I am unable to continue as editor of Dams and Reservoirs, and should like to thank everyone who has assisted me in trying to get the journal back on track over the past 3 years, especially my wife, Christine, who has spent many long hours relentlessly pursuing authors on correct format and use of English.
Anthea Peters will be the new editor from the next issue, and I wish her all the very best in this role, which I know she will undertake with her usual professionalism and enthusiasm.
