An important difference between managers is the way they manage their time. Explains the difference between effective and ineffective managers. As a result of its importance, the literature on time management strategies is extensive but it would not appear to be, in the main, based on conceptual foundations. Consequently, some of the suggestions on time management contain only half truths. Reviews the available empirical evidence and explores the implications of the findings on how managers actually spend their time. Concludes that some roadmaps or models are necessary to guide our understanding of how managers use their time. Research should consider how individuals actually spend their time in real managing. Proposes some practical suggestions for better time management.
