Papers published in Transport are eligible for awards from the Institution of Civil Engineers. Papers from any of the ICE journals can be nominated for several awards. In addition, each journal has awards dedicated to their specific subject area.

On Tuesday 25 October 2005, outgoing ICE president Colin Clinton presented awards to the following papers published in Transport in 2004. The editorial panel nominated their best papers and an awards committee chaired by David Hodgkinson allocated the awards.

The Safety in Construction Medal, presented for the best paper on health and safety of the construction team, the user and the public, was awarded to: Gökdağ M., Kaya M. D., Atalay A. and Haşiloğlu A. S. Injuries and fatalities in Turkish road traffic accidents. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2004, 157, No. 4, 231–237.

The Rees Jeffreys Award, presented for the best paper on highway engineering, was awarded to: Wiltshire P. J. Applying commercial advertising skills in transport planning. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2004, 157, No. 2, 125–132.

The Webb Prize (1), presented for the best paper on railway engineering, was awarded to: Pickup R. Planning for the Leeds Supertram. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2004, 157, No. 2, 107–115.

The Webb Prize (2), presented for the best paper on general transportation, was awarded to: Copley G. and Dodgson J. Evaluation of a national congestion charging system. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2004, 157, No. 2, 117–123.
