Productivity in university libraries of developing countries: a West and Southern African perspective

Probes, examines and analyses those variables that affect the motivation and productivity of library staff in some university libraries. Offers a comparative study based on the situations prevalent in two West African (Ghana and Nigeria) and two Southern African (Zambia and Botswana) countries. Highlights measurement of performance and various techniques for improving the same. Makes a number of recommendations to library policy formulators on how to improve the lot of their subordinate staff and thus motivate them towards higher productivity and the realization of organizational goals and objectives.
