CS2 establishes full service HF signal integrity lab

CS2 has set up a new Signal Integrity (SI) Lab, specializing in High Frequency (HF) analysis, design, characterization and test of electronic assemblies.

Electrical signal quality is considered critical for applications above the GHz range, such as telecoms. Each step in electronic packaging, however, may degrade signal quality through adverse parasitic effects, cross-coupling of neighboring traces, impedance matching, or by the materials used.

The SI Lab provides comprehensive signal integrity management services to optimize performance of single-chip or multi-chip packaging solutions and RF front-end modules.

Now available to customers, the services comprise:

  • Design support for HF applications – full support for optimum signal integrity and compliance with performance specifications, using ADS, Momentum and HFSS from Agilent.

  • HF Module Design – including the design of substrates with integrated passive components for filtering and biasing function for applications such as low noise amplifiers, voltage-controlled oscillators, mixers and amplifiers.

  • HF Substrate Characterization – The use of an 8510SX Agilent network analyzer by skilled HF experts ensures automated high precision HF substrate characterization at up to more than 20GHz.

  • Electrical Analysis of Packages – includes SPICE model extraction,planar 2.5 dimension and full 3-dimension electromagnetic modelling, using software tools from Ansoft and Agilent.

  • HF Final Test – CS2 offers the UW6000 mixed signal plug-in module for the Teradyne Catalyst tester for final electrical testing in volume production.
