Renesas Electronics has been honored with the prestigious Siemens Supplier Award in the Japan Special Recognition. The reason for the accolade was given as appreciation for the excellent support during the Japan earthquake crisis in 2011.

The Siemens Supplier Awards 2011 (presented by Barbara Kux, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, Head of Supply Chain Management and Chief Sustainability Officer) are expressions of the joint efforts aimed at innovative solutions, which are advantageous to suppliers and Siemens alike – and thus also benefit Siemens’ customers.

With this accolade Siemens honors suppliers’ efforts to optimize processes in the shared supply chain in the categories “Best Overall”,“Breakthrough/Innovation”, “Global Value Sourcing” and“Sustainability”.

In each category a selected number of suppliers, who have excelled compared to the performance criteria and to its competitors in fiscal 2011, were nominated out of Siemens supplier base of approximately 90,000 companies.

In recognition of notable performance and excellent support during the Japan earthquake crisis 2011, this year Siemens handed out a special award for exceptional efforts under adverse conditions also. Renesas was nominated in three of four Supplier Award categories and won the “Japan Special Recognition” Award for its efficient crisis management following the earthquake in Northeast Japan in March 2011.

Yoichi Yano, Executive Vice President of Renesas was presented with the award by Barbara Kux, Member of the Managing Board at Siemens AG, at the annual Siemens Supplier Forum. The event was held on November 21-22, 2011 at the Siemens Global Leadership Center in Feldafing, Germany.
