Painted Illusions Ltd were recently commissioned to paint the staff canteen of the massive PricewaterhouseCoopers building on London's Embankment, and chose to use Polyvine products to achieve the end results.
Sophia Barratt of Painted Illusions Ltd was set the daunting task of finding a colour scheme and paint effect that would suit a staff restaurant but also the conference centres into which it transforms at 3pm every day.
Sophia's team painted the two sliding screens which serve to separate the room, using one deep crimson colour scheme and one mottled sea blue in order to create two unique ambiences.
They used a blend of Polyvine colourisers mixed with Polyvine varnish to produce a truly innovative surface. The subtle hues were applied using a sea sponge and blended on the wall with a hog hair softener. The entire creation was then coated with Polyvine Dead Flat Varnish. Sophia says: "I needed to create subtle finishes which would brighten up the staff restaurant, and at the same time be non-obtrusive when the rooms are used for conferences. My aim was to create a multi-layered finish so that it would be impossible to tell how it was done not a typical sponged effect. I photographed and screen printed the pattern onto the blinds which covered the window wall during conferences, creating an entirely co-ordinated room. I try to invent my own effects using Polyvine products not simply reproduce the obvious ones, and I was really pleased with this result."
