Prior to commencing data collection, written informed consent was obtained from all participants. To account for language differences, interviews were conducted in the participants’ preferred languages (primarily English, Ladakhi and Urdu) and were later transcribed and translated into English by the researcher (a local resident of Ladakh), who is fluent in both languages (Ladakhi and Urdu); to ensure consistency and accuracy, translated transcripts were verified through back-translation and cross-checked by bilingual peers familiar with the research context. Care was taken to preserve meaning, tone and nuance during the translation and analysis process. The authors sincerely apologize for this mistake.
