Climate change is the result of the lack of relationship between humans and the planet. Specifically, we share how we use speculative fiction to create hopeful climate stories that share the practices of the children, teachers, families and communities as they build their own relationships with their local Place and all the living species they live with.
The research shared in this paper shares innovative pedagogies from Learning with Place research project, a post-qualitative inquiry focused on generating pedagogies for positive climate action by building relationships with the environment and multispecies communities.
Speculative fiction is essential as we seek to influence policies and practices that are responsive and adaptable to the ever-changing environment. We share three speculative fictions about Lilly in different times and places to provoke readers to think about what might be possible as they research, write and make policy impacting the local and global places.
