NatureServe is an online database representing over 50,000 plants, animals, and economic communities in the United States and Canada. ABI, the database publisher, receives its information from hundreds of Nature Heritage scientists and Conservation Data Centers. The data found on NatureServe assists a wide range of individuals, from conservationists advising governments on establishing endangered species protection programmes to businesses complying with environmental laws for building projects. Researchers and academics can use the data for studying endangered species and ecological communities, and for developing similar databases.
