The Marine Affairs Dictionary is one of those reference books for which the subtitle is as important as the title in describing its scope. It is, the author explains, “intended for professionals and students working in marine affairs”, which he defines as “fisheries, coastal management and policy, ports and shipping, and blue water marine policy”. He rightly emphasises the multidisciplinary nature of the book that encompasses aspects of law, international affairs, planning, geography, oceanography and marine resource management.
