This is the second volume of a three‐part history which, when complete, will chart the development of Glasgow from the medieval period to the twenty‐first century. This volume covers the highpoint in the city’s fortunes when it became immensely wealthy through trade and industry and proudly claimed the title of “Second City of the Empire”.
