Dictionary of Worldwide Gestures 2nd edition

My library contains a wide variety of texts on non‐verbal communication. I have, however, never come across anything quite like this extraordinary collection. The authors appear to have scoured a curious cross‐section of the world’s literature and art for every possible movement or emphasis of any part of the human anatomy that has ever been used for the purpose of supplementing or replacing verbal communication. The results are displayed (if I may use the term) in alphabetical order of body part, subdivided by alphabetical order of emotion, all the way from ABDOMEN: ANGER ‐ “abdomen pushed out toward someone facing”...
