This useful little book in the Discovering Historic Scotland series gives a brief but accurate history of Scotland’s monarchy. From the middle of the 9th century with the accession of Constantine, King of Picts, right through to James VI of Scotland ( who succeeded to the throne as James I of England in 1603), this well produced little book traces the fortunes of the Scottish monarchy.
Of skulduggery, there was plenty. Bloody battles and assassinations featured often ‐ indeed if the Scots were not locked in battle with the English, then they were frequently fighting amongst themselves. Sickness and infirmity...
