Roughly half of this magnificent‐looking book is devoted to a bibliography of publications of the V&A from its inception as the Museum of Ornamental Art in 1852 through to 1996. The descriptions here are based on “the standard cataloguing format used in the National Art Library”, the “primary tool” being AACR2. The main bibliography is supplemented by sequences on periodical publications, publications “related to, but not published by” the V&A, related periodicals and part works, and a listing of the museum’s exhibitions and displays to 1996.
