The introduction to this volume sketches the history of science fiction magazines. It also explains how the book came about. Terry Murray had health problems when he was young, so he turned to reading as a pastime. He began with comic books but in the early 1960s he turned to science fiction magazines and became so fascinated that he started collecting them.
