It is almost impossible to review adequately these two impressive volumes within the compass of a relatively brief notice, but every attempt will be made to do so. David Vagi, the author, must be congratulated on a number of counts. First, for his courage in tackling the project; second, for his persistence in carrying it through to fruition; and third for the breadth of his knowledge which is amply demonstrated in these two volumes.
