African Music Encyclopedia

The African Music Encyclopedia focuses on “what’s happening” in African music in Africa and around the world (the African diaspora). The author is Janet Planet, a drummer who moderates several electronic mailing lists on African music and percussion. The African Music Archive (http://ntama.uni‐mainz.de/∼ama/) recommends this site “for the true aficionados”, and Yahoo gives it its “worth a look” eyeglasses icon. I do not believe the site lives up to its billing.
