The Dostoevsky Encyclopedia

Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821‐1881), the great Russian novelist is well known for his classic Crime and Punishment (1866) and The Brothers Karamazov (1879‐1880). These, however, represent but a fraction of his output. The standard Russian edition of his collected works published in Leningrad from 1972 to 1990 contains 30 volumes. Kenneth Lantz's encyclopedia offers a comprehensive survey of Dostoevsky's output. Lantz writes in his preface that his work “is intended to help initiates who are seeking a deeper understanding and appreciation of the writings of Fyodor Dostoevsky” (p. xv).
