The Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture web site “is designed to supply general information about the state of Tennessee in a user‐friendly format for students, teachers, researchers, and general information seekers”. It is based on and expanded from a printed encyclopedia (West, 1998). The site is co‐sponsored by the University of Tennessee Press and the Tennessee Historical Society, and the text was copyrighted in 2002 by the Society. No information is proved regarding whether it has been updated since then, but the site seems well maintained.
