Berkshire Encyclopedia of World Sport

Before 1975 there were only a couple of notable encyclopedias of sport published in the English language, but the last years of the twentieth century witnessed a growing number of publications. In chronological order these included The Encyclopedia of Sports (Tyler, 1975) and many subsequent editions, The Oxford Companion to Sports and Games (Arlott, 1975) and The International Dictionary of Sports and Games (Cuddon, 1980).
