The key to this work appears on the last page of Volume 2 under the heading “Not listed in this edition?”. The entry goes on “Did you know that your firm can be listed, free of charge, in the 2005 edition of 1000 Architects?” These two volumes are nothing more than an advertising directory for international architectural practices, each of which gets a page in order to sell their services to potential customers. The entries, which are printed on glossy paper in order to show off those firms which have submitted colour photographs of their work, consist of a contact e‐mail address, a website, telephone numbers and postal address. These are supplemented by two or three hundred words of sales text and five or six photographs illustrating some examples of the practice's work. Not 1,000 Architects, but a brief directory of international architectural practices.
