Nearly everyone likes furniture. Entering the search term “furniture” into Google brings up 108 million references, enough to suggest that there is a great interest worldwide in this subject. Presumably, even cave dwellers used the occasional log, the bed of twigs and the stone hearth, although this book does not go quite that far back. The rise and rise of Ikea demonstrates that these tendencies continue to this day, with design, craft and commercial interests seeking further to develop these trends.
