This book is published, according to my friend who works in service planning for a major UK train operator, on what is known as a “regular interval timetable”. The Railway Dictionary first appeared in 1992 and has since been punctually published every four years. Author Alan Jackson has written other books on railways and is a past president of the Railway and Canal Historical Society. He provides no entry for “Regular Interval Timetable” in these pages, but does offer about 7,500 others, 1,550 of which he claims to be either new or expanded for this edition.
