There is something disconcerting about reviewing a book that has been published since 1920 and is now in its 14th edition, especially when editions since 1979 have been from the same respected publisher (Pearson, a company that specialises in educational texts aimed at the UK A level student (16‐18 year olds)). Clearly this is a very successful book, which has a continuing market.
