According to the dust jacket of this volume author Ann Lee Morgan taught art history and worked in publishing as an editor of art reference books. It goes on to say that she specialises in American art, particularly twentieth century. The dictionary she has produced is written for “scholars, students, museum goers, and others in the general public who take an interest in American Art” and does assume some previous knowledge of the subject.
