Dayton Clarence Miller was a man of wide‐ranging interests, including astronomy, physics and music. As a flautist his interest in acoustics and musical performance helped him amass a large collection of flutes, other wind instruments, books and photographs. He had the foresight to bequeath his collection to the Library of Congress who acquired the materials shortly after his death in 1941. The collection contains information on 1,700 flutes, books, prints, photographs, music, correspondence and trade catalogues.
