The main purpose of The Weather Observer's Handbook, as stated on its first page, is to set out information on the choice and use of weather‐measuring equipment, and in particular, Automated Weather Stations (AWSs). At the most basic, these can consist of a single sensor with an automatic datalogger; the most complex would be completely automated, remote, multi‐element recording systems. The content is aimed particularly at first time purchasers, but the amount of detail means there is information relevant for all levels including experienced professionals.
