This book is somewhat paradoxical – it is a ready reference for a constantly shifting and vexingly ambiguous topic. Providing such a reference to copyright, with its changing legal environment, impacted by technological change, where many situations are based on contextual factors, is a tough task that Butler somewhat achieves. Although a good reference, much of the text is taken from one of her previous books making it of dubious value.
The first part of the book is Copyright Fundamentals – five chapters covering terminology, background laws, fair use, public domain and copyright permissions. The second part is Specific Applications...
