Explains that information was obtained through three round table discussions with representatives from 12 leading USA companies in different industries, plus a workshop, held at the Fall 2007 IRI annual meeting. Findings – the results indicated that innovation sourcing practices involved: linking strategy to innovation sourcing; supplier relationships; dealing with marketplace disruptions; defining what to access externally; recognition that what a company wants and finds are linked; the power of culture in organizational change; the organizational value of reward systems and corporate communications; resistance to change; and facing the future.
