Presents the outcome of a roundtable of senior IT security professionals, organized by Computer Weekly magazine in association with Oracle, which discussed the business value associated with information security and how best to deliver it. Reports that the delegates discussed how the new UK government will change the security landscape, and focused on key security issues, such as:the impact of new regulations, where the new government has promised to roll back the “database state”; accreditation, where there was agreement that ensuring systems are secure and information is managed securely is a priority for government and industry; establishing a new era of openness, where security should be made open and easy to follow; and what IT security professionals can learn from high-profile security failures, notably the massive loss of data by H.M. Revenue & Customs (HMRC). Notes that the roundtable comprised: Toby Stevens (Enterprise Privacy Group); Mike Trevett (Office for National Statistics); Des Powley (Oracle UK); Callum Halliday (London 2010 Olympics); Martyn Croft (The Salvation Army); and Marcus Alldrick (Lloyd’s of London).Article type: ViewpointISSN: 0010-4787Reference:39AR222
