I would be very surprised if your organization is not already talking about the Millennials, those 20 something years old that are entering the workforce and worrying HR professionals. Organizations are finding it difficult to attract, engage and retain these Millennials, though some progress is being made. In this issue of Strategic HR Review, we are sharing some examples of best practices that are likely to inspire you.

In Encouraging Millennials to Collaborate and Learn on the Job, Lauren Trees explores enterprise social networking and gamification as two potential tools to help organizations engage Millennial employees in collaboration and learning.

In Creating and Sustaining a Highly Engaged Company Culture in a Multi-Generational Workplace, Thomas Walter and John Blattner describe a case study of a Chicago catering company that implemented a full range of cultural changes aimed at attracting and retaining talented Gen Y staff.

In Effective Reward Ensures Effective Engagement, Sarah Lardner provides another case study, this time exploring a fast-growing UK firm that sought fresh and innovative ways to encourage and reward performance among its Gen Y employee base, by linking it to individual long-term career and corporate growth aspirations.

In College Recruiting Using Social Media: How to Increase Applicant Reach and Reduce Recruiting Costs, Eddy Ng and Shahid Wazed propose a three-step strategy for utilizing social media in recruitment efforts targeting this younger generation.

Finally, in Bring on the Millennials, I am sharing what I think is an opportunity for dealing with, what many consider THE biggest people problem in organizations for the next decade.

I hope you enjoy this issue.
