Flextronics International completes acquisition of Palo Alto Products International

Flextronics International Ltd, has completed its acquisition of Palo Alto Products International, a full-service product development company that provides industrial design, mechanical engineering and manufacturing services. Palo Alto Products International is widely known for its award-winning design of the Palm Pilot and as a supplier of mechanical enclosures to major PC manufacturers. The acquisition of Palo Alto Products International allows Flextronics to expand its tooling and enclosure capabilities as well as its industrial, electrical and mechanical engineering services. The tooling and enclosure component of the business will be renamed Flextronics Enclosures, while the industrial,electrical and mechanical engineering services will operate as Flextronics Design.

The acquisition of Palo Alto Products International allows Flextronics to:

• provide complete industrial and mechanical engineering and design capabilities through Flextronics Design;

• add three manufacturing operations: injection molding and metal stamping in Thailand, tool and die manufacturing in Taiwan and manufacturing and injection molding and mechanical assembly in Texas;

• maintain a strategic relationship with Delta Electronics, a supplier of key electronic components;

• continue to grow as one of the world's premier desktop PC enclosure manufacturers;

• emphasize plastic injection-molded enclosures for volume production.
