Editorial
As this is the final issue of the 2003 volume, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to two groups of people whose contributions are vital to the continuing success of the journal. First, I would like to thank the Editorial Advisory Board members, many of whom are internationally recognised authorities in their particular areas of expertise, for their ongoing support. Second, I would like to acknowledge the following individuals who, in addition to the members of the Editorial Advisory Board, have contributed their time and expertise to the peer review process for the papers published in Volume 15.

This issue of SSMT sees the departure of one of the longest standing members of the editorial team, our associate editor Trevor Galbraith. Trevor originally worked on the journal while it was still published by Electrochemical Publications Ltd, looking after advertising, sales and marketing. Since Emerald acquired the journal from Electrochemical, and I assumed responsibility for editing the journal, he has continued to look after all of the news content and the diary, leaving me free to concentrate on the technical article content. I would like to thank Trevor for all of his contributions to the journal and wish him all the best for the future.
