NEPCON Texas '98 draws strong attendance in show's third year

Increased attendance and enthusiastic attendee and exhibitor responses at NEPCON Texas '98, held 6-8 October, at the INFOMART, Dallas, TX, USA confirmed the continued success of the NEPCON series of electronics manufacturing shows, Lorenz Hassenstein, industry vice president, Reed Exhibition Companies (REC), reports.

A total of 3,435 industry professionals crowded the INFOMART to witness the latest products and technologies making more than a 10 percent (10%) increase in attendance over the 1997 show.

New To NEPCON Texas in 1999

REC reports that Assembly Texas, part of the Assembly Technologies series of events, is scheduled to join NEPCON Texas in 1999 to create a more comprehensive manufacturing event.

The co-located event will take place in a different location due to scheduling conflicts with the INFOMART. NEPCON Texas '99/Assembly Texas '99 will make their debut as a co-located industry event at the Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, TX, October 27-28.

Intertronic goes biennial

Following a detailed survey of professional organizations and a representative selection of companies from the electronics industry, Miller Freeman has decided to reposition Intertronic with the approval of the associations involved.

The exhibition will be held every other year (in April of odd years, at Paris Expo ­ Porte de Versailles).

The general nature of the show will be retained, but in order to make it easier for visitors to find their way around, there will be a very clear division into sections: production;testing and measurement; subcontracting; distribution.

Based on the clearly expressed wishes of the buyers, engineers and technicians visiting the show, the components section (active and passive) will have a series of satellites devoted to the technologies that are the focus of current interest, i.e.

  • interconnection

  • display

  • OEM cards

  • switching

  • energy/power

  • protection/CEM

In order to avoid multiple stands, the satellites will be clustered around a central zone that will house the companies with products in several of the above fields.

The promotional campaign will focus on visitors from medium-sized companies looking for innovative solutions and whose position in relation to manufacturers and distributors needs to be better defined.

It will also target companies where electronics is displaying a significant rate of growth even if it is not the main component of their final products.

The next Intertronic will take place from 13-16 April 1999 at Paris Expo, and the Intertronic after that will be held in April 2001.
