17 November 1998 The FABmaster Group announced that it is expanding its operations in China by creating a wholly owned subsidiary, FABmaster China Ltd, in Hong Kong. FABmaster China will sell and support its FABmaster computer integrated manufacturing(CIM) software for manufactudng and test in mainland China. The creation of FABmaster China Ltd follows the opening of FABmaster's Asia/Pacific regional headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan in July 1997.
Operating worldwide,FABmaster is the dominant CIM solutions provider in Asia, with 85 percent of the market. Customers in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan include Acer, Asustech, Canon, Compal, Elitegroup, First International Computer, GVC,Hitachi, Hyundai, Inventec, Lucky Goldstar, Mitsubishi, NEC, Samsung, Shanghai Bell, Sony and Umax.
Antoine Tran has been appointed regional sales manager of FABmaster China Ltd. Mr Tran has extensive experience in the electronics industry and has held positions at Tekelec Airtronic, Secre Components, Sony Corporation of Hong Kong and ASM Assembly Automation Ltd.
