ISL has introduced a new low volatile organic compound (VOC) version of the highly successful silicone conformal coating product 1-2577.

Manufactured by Dow Corning, the new low VOC 1-2577 coating has been reformulated to remove the original toluene solvent base responsible for the high VOC content. The new coating is based on an ozone-safe VOC exempt carrier fluid. This carrier fluid is already widely used by many manufacturers as a cleaning agent prior to PCB assembly.

The new low VOC conformal coating exhibits the same high performance characteristics as its acclaimed predecessor. The material is a single-part,room temperature curing elasto-plastic resin with the facility for accelerated heat curing if required. Key characteristics include exceptional toughness(unusual for a silicone coating), low viscosity, excellent dielectric properties and clear appearance (fluorescent dye under UV).

Easy to apply and use, the new low VOC conformal coating conforms to MIL-I-46058C specifications and is stable and flexible from -50 to +200°C. Typical applications include long term protection against moisture and atmospheric contamination and coating of ceramic and hybrid circuits, connectors, PCBs and electronic components.
