Industry gets behind IPC's lead free roadmapKeywords: IPC, Lead
IPC is nearing its goal of providing the electronics assembly industry with a single source for gathering the best information on lead-free electronic assemblies. At the Association's third round of meetings to develop IPC Roadmap: A Guide for Lead-Free Assembly of Electronics, a few attendees made suggestions to change the existing document.
IPC will incorporate changes suggested at the meeting into the fourth draft of the Roadmap and will continue to solicit companies for their official lead elimination statements for inclusion.
Although significant progress has been made, Jorgensen does not expect IPC's lead-free roadmap to be completed anytime soon, indicating that the need for updated information is the factor slowing down the process.
The next roadmap meeting is scheduled for IPCWorks 2000, taking place September 9-15 in Miami (FL). The final date and time for the meeting will be posted on IPC's lead-free technology Web site at www.leadfree.org
