SMTA Dallas technical committee dedicated to optoelectronics

In response to an increasing number of companies currently involved with optoelectronics (OE), the SMTA has recognized the need to explore advances in the packaging and assembly of OE and related technologies. At SMTA Dallas(November 14-15 at the Dallas Convention Center), the association is organizing a conference on Optoelectronics and the Telecom Revolution.

A committee of industry professionals with cutting-edge experience and application of the technology is organizing the two days of paper sessions during SMTA Dallas. The committee includes conference chair Rodolfo Archbold,Manufacturers Services LTD; Dr Ken Gilleo, Cookson Electronics; Dr Viswam Puligandla, Nokia Mobile Phones; Steve Greathouse, Intel Corporation; Rich Freiberger, ACT Manufacturing; Frank Shi, University of CA (Irvine); Dr Laura Turbini, University of Toronto (CMAC); and Dr Reza Ghaffarian, Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Focus areas of the conference will include Assembly and Packaging Requirements, Infrastructure and Equipment, PCB Requirements, Alignment and Interconnection, Registration Demands, Industry Drivers/Market Share, Fiber Optic/PCB Integration, Roadmaps, Automation, Equipment and Processes, Materials and Substrates, Standards, MEMS/MOEMS, Case Studies and Applications.
