Hansatech Ltd. the major electronic manufacturing services provider, has fought off tough competition to take the coveted first prize for Manufacturing Excellence at the recent East of England Business Awards held at Girton College,Cambridge (see Plate 3).
The calibre of companies which made the shortlist showed what a tough job Hansatech had and made the eventual result a valuable benchmarking exercise in this new category. This year's competitors included Linx Printing Technologies in St Ives, Shearline Precision Engineering in Ely, one of the fastest growing engineering companies in the UK, and Domino Printing Sciences of Cambridge.

Hansatech, along with the other short-listed companies, had to face a star-studded judging panel which included business personalities such as Dr Hermann Hauser, the high-tech entrepreneur and VC specialist, Robin Saxby, the CEO of Arm, Perkins Engines President Mike Baunton and Antony Ross, director of 3i.
