Envisage Systems have launched a new, low cost online X-ray testing and inspection system, which enables electronic component manufacturers producing quality critical products to supplement the visual inspection process of the outside of the product with real time inspection of the inside. This unique system uses such fast technology, combined with great flexibility on size of item inspected, that 100 per cent testing and inspection is possible on most production processes, enabling testers to see and record concealed features within products, in real time.
Manufacturers can now check that all internal connections within devices have been correctly manufactured, seriously decreasing failure rates.
The X-ray system employs novel dual-energy X-ray analysis (DEXA) detector technology developed for the X-ray screening security sector and it is possible to differentiate between organic and inorganic materials, such as between wood and metals; meat and bone; glass and fluids; etc. With regard to user safety, the system is fully compliant with the latest IRR-00 (UK) standards.
According to Mike Phillips, CEO of Envisage Systems, “The X-ray system simply sees faults that no other system can. It perfectly complements, and can be seamlessly integrated with, our visual inspection and image processing systems to give manufacturers total control over the quality of their products”.
