One by one doctoral students and faculty members enter their cramped meeting space where they will spend the next several hours. Snacks, sticky notes, markers, and large notepads litter the table where the Equity Learning Community gathers. As each person enters the room, an increasing energy and enthusiasm fills the room.
Like many other sessions, today’s meeting will open with an informal sharing time. Stephanie starts by pulling three books from her backpack and introduces them to the group describing their impact on her, wondering if others might benefit. She is particularly excited about a resource list which provides an array of tools to add to the groups’ existing repertoire.
