Purpose

This paper discusses digital mindfulness, a significant intervention to reduce the attention fatigue and cognitive overload in hybrid knowledge economy.

Design/methodology/approach

The study uses a conceptual approach focusing on mindfulness theory and the stages of change model to design and implement the learning-based framework

Findings

Continuous digital interruptions and app sprawl (uncontrolled growth and overlap of digital applications) lead to cognitive overload in hybrid work. Digital mindfulness aids deliberate regulation of digital behavior and enables constant focus, and sustained learning.

Research limitations/implications

This paper focuses on the theoretical view and lacks the empirical research approach which can be explored by future researchers.

Practical implications

This paper suggests a five-stage model including awareness, consideration, decision, implementation, and reinforcement, that proposes actionable insights like microlearning, mindful technological training and peer-based reinforcement.

Originality/value

Digital mindfulness is positioned as a core capability to learn and maintain the cognitive sustainably, offers a practical guideline for HR practitioners in the hybrid knowledge economy.
