The initial hype has died down, critics have had their say and supporters have fully extolled the benefits of this type of training. So perhaps it is time to ask, “where are we up to with e‐learning?” When a survey was carried out on behalf of the IT Skills Research Panel in 1999, it was discovered that 82 percent of learning was instructor‐led. With the advent of e‐learning, analysts predicted that this figure would drop to around 69 percent by 2001. However, when measured two years later, 99 percent of respondents said that the amount of classroom training had actually gone up.
