Purpose

To identify factors and indicators for measuring individuals’ learning engagement (ILE) for learner’s ownership.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used a mixed method with literature review, a survey, and focused group discussions.

Findings

The study proposes six factors and 16 indicators for measuring ILE for learner’s ownership.

Research limitations/implications

Measuring ILE factors with a large number of participants in a learning session may be a challenge.

Practical implications

The ILE factor measurement can enhance learner engagement, ownership, facilitator style, and content, resulting in better learning outcomes.

Originality/value

The study adds to the learning engagement domain by proposing factors for measuring ILE for learners’ ownership.
