Update for museums Web site

The Web site guide to UK museums and galleries, 24-Hour Museum, has launched a newly designed site offering information and support for schools and colleges across the UK. The updated site offers teachers a curriculum navigator. The database enables them to enter information such as subject and key stage coding in order to supply them with suggested museums and galleries. The search also gives details of educational facilities and resources currently available. The site encourages teachers to supply feedback on institutions providing an online forum for impartial advice. New trails on specific topics are available online. The site also includes tailored listings and e-mail updates to keep visitors in touch with forthcoming events.

The newly designed site was unveiled by culture secretary Tessa Jowett and Lloyd Grossman, 24-Hour Museum chairman. He said:

The 24-Hour Museum already has a loyal following, but we hope that the new improved functions and content of the site will attract still more visitors who are hungry for knowledge and interested in what is happening in our museums.

Jane Finnis, development director, 24-Hour Museum, added:

The new content and functionality will make it even easier to keep in touch with what is going on in the UK's best museums and galleries. The curriculum navigator will be a key tool for teachers and will allow them to benefit even more from the educational resources available. Visiting and being up to date on museums and galleries has never been simpler.
