EITB Booklet No 9 is important to firms in all industries for two reasons. First, the technician engineer is the first case of a grade of worker for whom revolutionary changes have been developed at the same time for both in‐plant training and further education. EITB booklet No 9 and the Haslegrave Report complement each other. Second, the EITB will be the pace‐setter in technician engineer training. Booklet No 9 sets out, to a very great extent, the prototype of training for higher grade technicians, on which will be based the provisions of other industries for this grade. The aim in other industries will be to try to reproduce the EITB pattern of training at this level.
