Programmed learning in the small firm: AN EXPERIMENT IN MANAGEMENT TRAINING

A problem which seems to occur in almost any discussion about industrial training, is the one of dealing fairly and effectively with the small firms. Almost every industry and every Training Board has this problem and perhaps none more so than the Furniture and Timber Industry Training Board which has something in the order of 90 per cent of its member firms with under 100 employees. The board has been involved with several training developments, with the objective of tailoring effective training to the realistic needs of the smaller firm. This article describes one such development that could contribute greatly to training in the smaller firm in the future.
